Floors and ceilings and walls, oh my!
For those of us who spend time at the Stevens & Smith Center construction site regularly, the last few weeks have been mesmerizing. The Center has begun to truly take shape—with steel beams placed, ramps and floors poured, sheetrock installed, and reclaimed wood flooring laid in place. Each future gallery feels transformed, as if they are just waiting for exhibits and artifacts to be installed! From the outside, the historic buildings are getting a minor facelift, with the installation of beautiful, historically-appropriate windows in the existing frames.

By late January, Benchmark Construction and their subcontractors will put down their hammers and paint brushes, and the interior spaces will be ready for the next phase: exhibition installation!
LancasterHistory recently hired key teammates for the final phase of the project. Art Guild, based outside of Philadelphia, is a world-class exhibition fabrication team with 90 years of experience working in museums worldwide. In the next few weeks, Art Guild will create shop drawings and prototypes, preparing all the infrastructure needed to showcase 25,000 square feet of stories, artifacts, and media experiences.
